Our Explorator GCR40 wheels are made for everyday use, its modern and ideally aero shaped alloy rims combined with stainless steel Sapim spokes and our own straight-pull IONA hubs make these wheelsets the real workhorses of our line of wheels. And at this price-point, this is what people mean when they say “value for money”. These 40mm versions are ideal for daily training. Quite aerodynamic and still handle nimble. The big box-shaped rim is extremely stiff and makes this wheel very ideal for riders that cannot find “stiff enough” wheels due to their riding style, or perhaps taller or heavy built riders.
The IONA straight pull hubs are supported by high-quality industrial bearings and a 4-pawl ratchet system. They can be upgraded with either SKF bearings or even ceramic bearings. Freehub bodies for either Shimano, Sram XDR or Campagnolo/Ekar are also available.
The 40mm rim is made from a specific Niobium alloy with a T10 heat treatment which makes the rims ultra strong and durable. The rim profile has a 21mm inner width, making sure the wider tires fit better and offer the right sizing. The rims offer great stability for tires up to 40c.
The wheels are built with Sapim Leader spokes and black nipples creating a package with amazing performance and price. Explorator wheels are available as disc brake only.
We recommend using Ere Tubeless tires with Ere ProClose sealant and Pro Close tubeless valves for tubeless set-ups.
For clincher tires we recommend using our Tubus inner tubes.
Please be reminded to use valves with a minimum length of 60mm. Valve extenders are available from Ere.
